AidMIRE: Final event in Venice strengthens Italy-Slovenia cooperation in health emergencies

Venice, 10 October 2025 – Venice hosted the final event of AidMIRE, the European project that brought together Italy and Slovenia to jointly address the management of large-scale health emergencies. The initiative – funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia programme – involved dozens of cross-border healthcare and institutional organizations, with 5 partners and 3 associates, producing joint operational protocols, training pathways, and real-world simulations to strengthen cross-border response in health crises.

A shared goal: saving lives across borders
Created to overcome organizational differences between national healthcare systems, AidMIRE has developed an integrated emergency response model, combining clinical readiness, advanced training, and operational cooperation among hospitals, emergency services, and institutions.

Event highlights:

• Presentation of results: shared protocols, transnational training plan, real-world simulations.

• Official Presentation of protocols between partners, demonstrating a lasting commitment between Italy and Slovenia.

• Exchange of European experiences: including the HealthAcross Initiative and the projects  (Christina Langer) Unlimited Health Together, Emergency EuroRegion SLO-HR413, and EMERGENCY EuroRegion (Gordana Antić).

• European roundtable with experts and EU representatives, including: Laura Comelli (Managing Authority INTERREG Italy-Slovenia, Rita Bertocco (Head of Unit, European Territorial Cooperation and Macroregional Strategies, Regione del Veneto), Alberto De Sordi (CONTACT POINT CENTRAL EUROPE – UCR Veneto).
