On February 12, 2026, on the occasion of the Slovenian cultural festival, an evening event was held in San Michele del Carso as part of the BEroots project. The event was organized by the project partners SDGZ-URES - Slovenian Regional Economic Association and the Municipality of Savogna d'Isonzo, as well as the cultural association Danica. The event also confirmed the strengthening of ties with the local community of Podnanos, which in recent years has consolidated under the patronage of the municipalities of Vipava and Savogna d'Isonzo.
Two female vocal groups performed to a packed audience. The Biseri group performed under the direction of Rada Vižintin, while Jana Drassich conducted the Danica group. They presented a selection of folk and more modern songs to the audience, giving the evening a festive and exciting tone.
The highlight of the evening was the screening of the documentary Zdravica, directed by Nejc Furlan. The film tells the story of the creation and history of the Slovenian national anthem and reflects on national identity through the work of three important creators: Matija Vertovec, France Prešeren, and Stanko Premrl. The documentary was made in 2017 by DD Studio and TD Podnanos and was well received as a stimulus for reflection on Slovenian cultural heritage.
The evening was part of the BEroots - Between Rivers and Lagoons: Artistic Routes project, which is part of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia program and is co-financed by the European Union. The project promotes the revitalization of natural and cultural heritage and the development of sustainable tourism in the cross-border area through the creation of artistic routes between rivers and lagoons, greater visibility for artists, and the involvement of different target groups.
The event in San Michele del Carso was also attended by representatives of the local community of Podnanos, who thanked the organizers for screening the film and for their contribution to the preservation of cultural memory.
