Within the BioTech2Agri project, innovation does not stop at identifying the most promising biotechnological solutions for the agri-food sector, but takes concrete shape through direct support to enterprises also in the crucial phase of economic sustainability of investments. It is in this context that Service 3 of the Innovation Coin Mechanism is positioned, designed to support SMEs in navigating the complex landscape of funding opportunities available at European, national and regional level.
Service 3 is based on a clear awareness: adopting a biotechnology within a production process is a strategic choice, but turning it into reality requires adequate financial resources. For this reason, beneficiary SMEs are provided with targeted support to identify the most suitable funding schemes to co-finance biotech adoption projects, helping them to read the public funding landscape in a more effective, structured and informed way.
The service is delivered through a tailor-made dossier, developed on the basis of the specific characteristics and needs of each enterprise. This is an operational tool that collects currently available European, national and regional funding opportunities – for both Italian and Slovenian SMEs – selected according to their consistency with the company project, the sector of activity and the innovation potential expressed by the enterprise. Not a generic list of calls, therefore, but a true custom-built guidance map.
In a context where access to funding is often one of the main obstacles to business modernisation, this service represents a key element of the support pathway offered by BioTech2Agri. Enterprises are not left alone to face the complexity of support programmes, but can rely on targeted scouting and selection of funding opportunities, aimed at transforming an innovative idea into a concrete investment.
The added value of Service 3 lies in its ability to connect technological innovation with economic feasibility. For an SME intending to introduce a biotechnology into its production cycle, knowing where to find resources, which instruments to activate and which channels to monitor can make the difference between a project that remains on paper and one that becomes a real driver of competitiveness.
With BioTech2Agri, biotech innovation thus translates into a comprehensive pathway: from mapping available technologies to building a cross-border innovation ecosystem, and finally to concrete support in identifying the funding needed for their adoption.
