As part of the ITINERANT project, the “Camp Without Borders” took place in Livške Ravne from August 23 to 28, organized by the Triglav National Park in collaboration with the Julian Prealps Nature Park (PNPG). Twenty young participants aged 15 and under—ten from Slovenia and ten from Italy—gathered at the CŠOD Kavka.
As part of the ITINERANT project, the “Camp Without Borders” took place in Livške Ravne from August 23 to 28, organized by the Triglav National Park in collaboration with the Julian Prealps Nature Park (PNPG). Twenty young participants aged 15 and under—ten from Slovenia and ten from Italy—gathered at the CŠOD Kavka.
The camp focused on learning about the Julian Alps Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, its natural and cultural heritage, and the importance of protected areas. At the same time, through shared activities, the young people got to know their peers from the other side of the border, discovering that language differences do not pose an obstacle to collaboration.
The program offered participants numerous opportunities for exploration and experiences in nature. They explored Kolovrat, visited the Kavka Cave, admired Lake Lužnica, and participated in various nature-based, physical, and group activities. They also explored the area’s flora, fauna, cuisine, and natural features, learning the rules for responsible visitation and behavior in protected areas.
The Slovenian and Italian participants worked together throughout the week in mixed groups, solving tasks together and overcoming language differences through play. The camp thus makes a concrete contribution to one of the objectives of the ITINERANT project,
