As part of the CLISHE project, project partners have held a series of meetings with local stakeholders, during which they identified and mapped potential locations for climate shelters. Based on these discussions, key steps have been agreed upon, which will lead to the first implementations of these shelters, aimed at providing protection from heat and improving the quality of public spaces.
In Lignano Sabbiadoro, a climate shelter will be installed along a popular cycling path. Accessible 24/7, it will offer protection for cyclists and pedestrians, with particular attention to vulnerable groups and tourists. In Maerne di Martellago, a cooling space will be located within the local library, offering areas for rest and educational activities for a broad range of users. In Spinea, the climate-controlled space will be set up in a community center and will primarily serve elderly people and families with children, providing a variety of activities and relaxation areas. In Ljubljana, the shelter will be placed in front of the entrance to the University Medical Center, where it will provide protection from the heat for people with chronic and acute illnesses, the elderly, pregnant women, and young families who visit the Maternity Clinic, while also contributing to a more pleasant arrival at the healthcare facility.
