On Friday, 27 March 2026, project partner Prostorož organised a study visit in Ljubljana as part of the international conference Urban Future 2026 Ljubljana. Due to bad weather, two thematic tours – Urban transformations along Ljubljanica river and From hotspots to climate shelters – were merged into a single walk. During the walk along the Ljubljanica, participants explored urban transformations while also being introduced to the CLISHE project, the location of a new climate shelter, and ongoing research and activities in this field. Representatives of Prostorož highlighted the importance of climate shelters as accessible and inclusive spaces for protection against heatwaves. The visit also sparked an in-depth discussion on the differences in the quality of public space between the city centre and the area of Ljubljana’s clinical complex, where the combination of user density, mobility challenges and the pronounced urban heat island effect further underlines the need for targeted solutions.
