The now already traditional Concert of Peace was organized by the Soča Valley Development Centre in cooperation with the Fundacija Poti miru v Posočju (Walk of Peace in the Soča Region Foundation) and the Kobarid Museum.
The event, which took place in Kobarid Square on August 8, was co-financed through the WALKofPEACE+ project, as part of the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme, and the Municipality of Kobarid.
The Concert of Peace aims to raise awareness of peace as one of the core values in the areas that were historically part of the World War I battlefields. It is a free-entrance cultural and musical event that attracts both locals and tourists in the Soča Valley, commemorating the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
This year’s Concert of Peace kicked off with a conversation between Dušan Jelinčič—writer, editor, and mountaineer—and Katja Canalaz, a journalist of the Novi Matajur newspaper. Jelinčič addressed topics related to the Walk of Peace project and shared his individual experiences regarding the Slovenian and Italian cross-border space and the nature of multinational coexistence.
This was followed by a performance of the Hamo & Tribute 2 Love band, whose hits entertained the local and tourist audiences in the full Kobarid square.
