Seven days immersed in the heart of the Karst, surrounded by nature, culture and flavour: this is what journalists experienced during the press trip held from 5 to 11 April, promoted by PromoTurismoFVG and ORA Krasa in Brkinov d.o.o. as part of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Kras-Carso II project.
The itinerary offered a rich and diverse selection of hands-on experiences, designed to showcase the unique value of the Geopark from a cross-border perspective. From climbing lessons with breathtaking views over the Gulf of Trieste along the panoramic Napoleonic Way, to the historic Karstic house – Hiška Krasa; from majestic Lipizzaner horses to scenic walks through Karst villages; from gin tastings to traditional lunches featuring local specialities.
There was no shortage of moments dedicated to nature and sustainability: visits to the stunning Škocjan Caves, an electric boat excursion in the Gulf’s UNESCO MAB area, and a cross-border hike in the Val Rosandra allowed participants to fully appreciate the region’s extraordinary natural richness.
The initiative aimed to offer an authentic and engaging insight into a territory that bridges Italy and Slovenia, promoting a model of slow, mindful and integrated tourism that highlights the shared geological, cultural, and gastronomic heritage of the two countries.
