On Thursday, 26 February 2026, the Tolmin Museum hosted the event From Tradition to a Contemporary Souvenir, organised in cooperation with the Tolmin Museum (a project partner of DANTE, co‑funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Programme) and the Soča Valley Tourist Board (project Nadgradnja TKBZ Iz Doline Soče).
The experimental workshop, designed according to the principles of the New European Bauhaus and organised by the Tolmin Museum, offered both a theoretical and practical insight into contemporary souvenir-making. Increasingly, souvenirs extend beyond their traditional role as tourist objects, embodying the values of the local environment, sustainability, and high‑quality design. They become carriers of local stories, materials, and craftsmanship, while adhering to the principles of circular design and the responsible use of resources.
Prior to the workshop, the lecturer held individual consultations focused on product development as part of the Territorial Collective Brand from the Soča Valley, an initiative the Soča Valley Tourism Board has been implementing for several years.
The event provided participants with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas, and encouraged reflection on contemporary approaches to developing local souvenirs rooted in the rich heritage of the Soča Valley.
