On Saturday, 4 July, at 10:00 a.m., FRESCO, Lignano Sabbiadoro's new climate shelter, will officially open. Nestled within the coastal pine forest, this public space has been designed to provide shade, refreshment and well-being during the hottest summer days.
The opening event will take place at Roundabout No. 4 – Ge.Tur. Area, along Lungomare Lignano, and is open to residents, visitors and all interested participants. Admission is free.
Throughout the morning, visitors will have the opportunity to discover and experience the new space through activities designed for all ages, including participatory workshops and guided nature walks.

10:00 a.m. – Opening of FRESCO
Welcome addresses by:
- Laura Giorgi, Mayor of the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro;
- Manuel Massimiliano La Placa, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro;
- Luca Velo, Professor of Urban Planning at IUAV University of Venice.
10:30 a.m. – Exploring the Climate Shelter
Community imagination workshop for all ages, organised by OPS!LAB;
Guided nature walk, organised by Studio Eupolis and the La Foce del Tagliamento Association.
11:30 a.m. – The Future of FRESCO
Presentation of the summer programme and the future development of the climate shelter with:
- Annalia Boldrin, Activity Coordinator for the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro;
- Giulia Pecol, responsible for developing the guidelines for the climate shelter.
A New Space for Community Well-being
FRESCO is a public space dedicated to well-being and social interaction, where residents and visitors can enjoy shade, drinking water, resting areas and a natural environment in which to relax.
Throughout the summer, the climate shelter will host a programme of free workshops, guided walks and activities dedicated to discovering and appreciating the natural environment of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
