As part of the KRAS-CARSO II project, the partners have developed new promotional and communication materials aimed at bringing the cross-border Geopark Kras–Carso even closer to visitors and residents of this unique area.
The main novelty is the new tourist brochure of the cross-border Geopark Kras–Carso, developed in close collaboration with scientific partners in the field of geology (ZRC SAZU – Inštitut za raziskovanje Krasa, Geološki zavod Slovenije, Dežela Furlanija – Julijska krajina, and the Univerza v Trstu) as well as tourism partners (ORA Krasa in Brkinov and PromoturismoFVG). The brochure is published by ORA Krasa in Brkinov and edited by Lučka Peljhan (I & S Aladin d.o.o.). The publication spans 33 pages and presents the geological and tourism features of this cross-border area in a scientifically grounded yet engaging way. It is available in four languages: Slovenian, Italian, English, and German.
Special attention has also been given to younger visitors. For them, the Karst Art colouring book was created, presenting the natural and cultural features of the Geopark Kras–Carso in a playful and creative way. The colouring book was published by ORA Krasa in Brkinov, while the illustrations were created by the Slovenian artist Manja Tišler.
As part of the project, we also collaborated with Varstveno delovni center Koper, enota Sežana, which was involved in the preparation of promotional materials. They created the souvenir “Scents of the Karst – made with hands and heart”, designed as a scented keychain or a natural fragrance for wardrobes. The product was presented at the international OSP Interreg Italia–Slovenija in Gradež (16–17 April 2026). Through this collaboration, we highlight the importance of an inclusive approach and equal participation of different stakeholders in the creation of project content.
For slightly older visitors, PromoturismoFVG has also prepared a memory game featuring images of the Karst, which encourages the exploration of the characteristics of this area in a fun and educational way. The illustrations for the game were created by an Italian artist, whose distinctive style contributed to the game’s modern and visually appealing design.
With the new materials, we aim to strengthen the visibility of the cross-border Geopark Kras–Carso and to provide high-quality, accessible, and inclusive content for exploring, learning about, and experiencing this extraordinary karst landscape.
