The initiative will bring together institutions, managing authorities, Interreg programmes, macro-regional strategies, funded projects, and stakeholders, aiming to highlight complementarities between European instruments and strengthen the impact of cohesion policies in cross-border areas.
Participation in the event is by invitation only.
First day: OSI and programme synergies
After the opening and an overview of the strategic role of OIS, the morning will be structured into three thematic sessions coordinated by the OSI Programme projects:
- ADRIONCYCLETOUR – sustainable cross-border tourism and the Adriatic-Ionian Cycle Corridor model
- Kras–Carso II – shared governance for sustainable territories
- POSEIDONE – blue and green infrastructures for biodiversity
The sessions will highlight synergies with other Interreg programs and complementary funding instruments, presenting related projects from various areas of European cooperation.
In the afternoon, a roundtable will focus on the role of macro-regional strategies and Interreg programs in strengthening territorial cooperation beyond 2027, followed by experiential tours, showcasing the concrete results of the OIS projects.
Looking ahead: Interreg post-2027
The second day will focus on the next generation of Interreg programmes and on strengthening European cohesion.
The roundtable “The next generation of Interreg to strengthen cohesion” will cover:
- strategic objectives and new features of post-2027 programmes;
- the role of programmes in building structured synergies;
- the Multi-Program Coordination Mechanism and cooperation platforms;
- connections with mainstream programs;
- youth involvement through dedicated initiatives.
The morning will conclude with the “Students4Cooperation” award ceremony, a competition for secondary schools in the program area.
In the afternoon, parallel workshops among Interreg programs and projects will explore new operational synergies for the post-2027 period, followed by the presentation of results and drafting of the “Interreg Tool for Synergies”.
