On 25 May 2026, the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme participated in “Youth for Sea – Ideas for the future of Italy-Croatia Cooperation”, an event organised in Ancona by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme. The event brought together representatives of different Interreg programmes and European institutions to discuss the role of young people in territorial cooperation and the future of Interreg post-2027.
Katja Hrvatic from the Managing Authority of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme took part in the “Interreg & Youth: Actions in Practice” session, dedicated to sharing experiences and good practices for greater youth involvement in European cooperation.
The discussion highlighted the importance of creating stronger links between young people and institutions and providing concrete opportunities for participation through initiatives such as Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY), activities for students and youth-oriented projects. Looking ahead, the aim is to further strengthen the role of young people not only in projects, but also in decision-making processes and programme governance.
