The strategic project KRAS-CARSO II, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027, whose lead partner is the ORA of Karst and Brkina, has been selected to participate in the 22nd edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels. The four-day event, which took place from 7 to 10 October, is the largest annual event dedicated to cohesion policy and provides a platform for cities and regions to showcase their capacity to promote growth and job creation, implement the European Union's cohesion policy and highlight the importance of local and regional governance across Europe.
In the framework of the event organised by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme and the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 Programme, the strategic project KRAS-CARSO II was selected as an example of good practice in linking and creating synergies with other projects of the above-mentioned programmes. Invited representatives of some of the projects, representatives of the managing authorities of the Programmes, and the European Commission representative from the Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy, Slawomir Tokarski, were presented by Ana Hrast from the ORA Krasa in Brkinov and Klemen Lisjak from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (Kmetijski inštitut Slovenije) on the cooperation between the KRAS-CARSO II project and the Agrotur+ capitalisation project, of which the ORA Krasa in Brkinov is a partner. The interplay of project activities is mainly based on sustainable mobility, the promotion of the cross-border Karst region, the organisation of events and the transfer of expertise. In addition, the strategic project KRAS-CARSO II was presented in the context of the three strategic projects of the Italy-Slovenia Programme - Adrioncycletour and Poseidon, and in connection with the Interbike III capitalisation project. Synergy effects between the strategic projects are visible in the field of sustainable mobility and related cycling and hiking. The presentations were followed by a workshop on project integration between the two programmes. The participants developed the possibilities for thematic cooperation in the field of tourism, which focuses on local specificities, preservation of cultural heritage and nature. Particular attention was paid to people with disabilities in the design of links and ideas.
