The FIRESAFENET project is well underway, with activities progressing across all three work packages. An important milestone in the project's implementation has been reached with the delivery of the first piece of equipment. In recent months, Fire Unit Nova Gorica has received a new Utility Task Vehicle (UTV), which will significantly enhance its operational readiness and improve its ability to respond effectively in challenging terrain.
The new vehicle is a valuable addition to the fire brigade's equipment, particularly for emergency operations in remote and hard-to-reach areas where access by conventional emergency vehicles is difficult or even impossible. The UTV will be used to transport equipment, provide logistical support and carry out reconnaissance during complex emergency operations. It will also enable the safe evacuation of injured people from remote or difficult-to-access locations.
Firefighters from Fire Unit Nova Gorica have already tested the new UTV in the field, familiarising themselves with its capabilities and exploring its potential use in various operational conditions. This new addition represents an important step towards greater mobility, faster emergency response and improved safety for both firefighters and residents in the cross-border area.
The FIRESAFENET project aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Slovenia and Italy in the prevention and management of fire risks. Particular emphasis is placed on developing innovative approaches to prevention, improving fire preparedness, enhancing risk management and mitigating the impacts of climate change in the cross-border area.
Through its activities and the introduction of modern equipment, the project contributes to building a more resilient cross-border region, improving emergency response to natural disasters and ensuring better protection of people, property and the natural environment.
