Open Call for Participants! Pasolini Corss-border International High School 2-6 november 2025

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Cross-Border International High School

Pier Paolo Pasolini between Nature and Culture: Sentimental Geographies and Linguistic Borders

Casarsa della Delizia, Idrija, Nova Gorica, November 2 – November 6, 2025

Aim and Objectives

As part of the initiatives for Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025, applications are invited for the International High School "Pier Paolo Pasolini between Nature and Culture: Sentimental Geographies and Linguistic Borders," an excellent training program for young scholars and researchers interested in the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini and his multifaceted expressive languages.

This initiative aims to:

  • Deepen the influence of Friuli on Pasolini's poetics, through an immersive experience in the key places of his biography and his literary, cinematographic, and cultural production.
  • Analyze the linguistic and translational dimensions of Pasolini's thought, with particular reference to the relationship between Italian and Slovenian languages.
  • Promote cross-border exchange among young scholars from different European countries.

The High School will develop into a five-day training course with lectures, workshops, translations, and cultural itineraries between Casarsa, Idrija, and Nova Gorica.

The educational activities will be led by young scholars and intellectuals selected based on their expertise in literary, linguistic, and semiotic-cinematographic fields, with the aim of offering a dynamic and original perspective on the Poet's thought and work.

The program will be structured into five days specifically dedicated to literary journeys in Pasolini's places in Friuli, with particular attention to the influence of the landscape on his poetics; participation in a conference on Pasolini in the collective imagination, with contributions from experts; workshops on Pasolini and expressive codes; and interlinguistic translation laboratories, dedicated to rendering Pasolini's texts into Slovenian.

The High School therefore offers a unique opportunity for intercultural exchange and critical in-depth study, in a context of dialogue between young Italian and Slovenian scholars.
