A practical, accessible tool for the communities of the Italy-Slovenia cross-border area
One of the most concrete and innovative tools of the European project RE-ACTIVE — Strengthening Civil Society Participation through Culture in Climate Risk Management for Cross-Border Governance — is currently under development: the Bilingual Italian-Slovenian Resilience Kit.
Designed for residents of the cross-border area, the Kit brings together in a single, easy-to-use resource everything needed to be prepared for climate emergencies: operational guidelines for crisis situations, covering extreme storms, heatwaves, wildfires and flooding; useful contacts for local authorities, civil protection services and emergency responders; and cross-border good practices already successfully tested in communities across the Italy-Slovenia programme area.
The Kit will be produced in 5,000 printed copies, distributed across the territory through a network of strategic locations — pharmacies, libraries, municipal offices and cultural centres — and will also be available as a free digital download from the institutional websites of the project partners and the official project page.
A defining and essential feature: bilingualism. In an area where two languages, two cultures and two administrative systems coexist, providing clear and accessible information in both Italian and Slovenian is not simply a matter of inclusion — it is a fundamental condition for ensuring an effective response to emergencies.
The Resilience Kit is being developed under Work Package 1 of the RE-ACTIVE project, coordinated by the Unione Italiana (PP2), with contributions from all project partners: the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Lead Partner), PiNA – Kulturno izobraževalno društvo (PP3), and ATS-CZS PROJEKT (PP4).
Being prepared is the first step towards resilience. 🌊🔥
