On the occasion of the European Week for Waste Reduction, the Iuav University of Venice wanted to share with the community the results of research projects dedicated to the topic of recycling and waste management.
Among them, the Waste Design 2.0 project promotes innovative forms of design starting with the reuse of construction waste for the production of furniture and utility supplies. The research activities are supported by collaboration with associations and start-ups active in the lagoon area to create a virtuous network of collaborations and offer the Iuav community experiences of sharing good practices to promote the culture of recycling.
On 19 November, the ‘Re-Thinking Re-Cycling, Research and Innovative Practices’ event was held at the Iuav University of Venice's Cotton Mill. During the event, the objectives of the Waste Design 2.0 research were also discussed.
The students had the opportunity to learn about the operational aspects of organising the cleaning activities of the Venice lagoon, to reflect on the impacts of these activities both at a statistical level and in terms of creating a collective consciousness, and finally to discover the recycling potential of the collected materials.
The event was an opportunity to share with the students the future activities of the Waste Design 2.0 project.
