On 15 May 2026, the SANITAS project was presented in Grado as part of the International Firefighters’ Gathering, during the international conference “Rescue Services and People with Disabilities: Where Do We Stand?”, held at the Palacongressi conference centre.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to introduce the project to a wider audience of professionals and stakeholders working in emergency response, disaster management and assistance to vulnerable groups.
During the Infoday, the objectives of SANITAS were presented, highlighting the project’s commitment to strengthening cross-border cooperation between Italy and Slovenia in primary healthcare and emergency response to natural disasters. Particular attention was given to the challenges of assisting vulnerable groups and the need for better coordination between the healthcare and rescue services of the two countries.
Participation in the event also provided an opportunity to connect with new local stakeholders interested in the project and willing to contribute to its upcoming activities. These new contacts represent an important step towards expanding the SANITAS network and involving additional stakeholders in cross-border cooperation.
Their contribution will be particularly valuable during the upcoming workshops, where participants will discuss needs, challenges and possible solutions for developing a joint cross-border healthcare cooperation protocol for emergencies and natural disasters.
The project’s participation in the International Firefighters’ Gathering therefore served not only to increase the visibility of SANITAS, but also to establish new connections with stakeholders whose expertise and experience can contribute to a more coordinated and effective response to emergencies in the Italy–Slovenia cross-border area.
The SANITAS project is implemented under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme and co-funded by the European Union.
