The latest meeting of the SANITAS project partners took place, providing an important opportunity to review the progress of activities and plan the upcoming phases of the project.
During the meeting, partners shared updates on the analysis of healthcare systems in Italy and Slovenia, with a particular focus on primary healthcare and data collection through stakeholder engagement. At the same time, work is ongoing on the preparation of the cross-border protocol, which represents one of the project’s main objectives and aims to improve cooperation between the two countries in the fields of healthcare and emergency management.
A key focus was also placed on strengthening the competencies of professionals involved. Italian and Slovenian language courses are currently being conducted for project staff, with the aim of facilitating communication during cross-border interventions. In addition, several specialized training programs in the field of emergency healthcare are planned and partly already underway.
The procurement of the equipment necessary for the project is also progressing, including medical devices and technical equipment for emergency management. Some materials have already been delivered, while additional supplies are expected in the coming months.
Significant attention was also given to planning communication activities and future events. In the coming months, the following are foreseen:
- informational meetings for the public and stakeholders,
- thematic workshops to foster exchange between Italian and Slovenian professionals,
- a roundtable to present the results of the analyses and engage local actors.
These initiatives will take place between spring and autumn 2026 and aim to strengthen cross-border cooperation and actively involve the local community.
The project also foresees the organization of a joint exercise among partners, aimed at testing the developed procedures and improving the capacity to respond to emergencies in a cross-border context.
The meeting concluded with the definition of the next operational steps and the confirmation of a shared commitment to continue project activities in a coordinated and effective manner.
