Izola General Hospital has acquired a new diagnostic ultrasound device to support the implementation of activities within the AidMIRE project. The device is used for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as for the professional training of hospital staff.
In May this year, the ultrasound device played a key role in the successful execution of a mass-casualty simulation exercise entitled MASS ACCIDENT SOCERB 2025, held in the cross-border area between Slovenia’s Coastal-Karst Region and Italy’s Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
Beyond its diagnostic and therapeutic applications, the device is also an important tool for staff training. For example, it was used to deliver the internationally accredited WINFOCUS Ultrasound Course, attended by 18 doctors from Izola General Hospital as part of the AidMIRE project. In addition, the device supported internal workshops on the Insertion of a Central Venous Catheter (CVC) Using Ultrasound Guidance for doctors, and on the Peripheral Insertion of a Central Venous Catheter (PICC) Using Ultrasound Guidance for nursing staff.
The purchase of the ultrasound device and the activities of the AidMIRE project are co-financed by the Interreg VI-A Slovenia–Italy Programme 2021–2027
