Dates: May 7th and 9th, 2024
Location: Purissima Mediterranean Garden
Special Spring Open Days took place at the Purissima Mediterranean Garden on May 7th and 9th, 2024, as part of the cross-border project MEDS garden+, which is part of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia program. This year's event was aimed at students from the Koper Elementary School, with the goal of emphasizing social inclusion and biodiversity conservation.
The project partner, KZ Agraria Koper, prepared a rich educational program for young visitors. Children had the opportunity to learn about various Mediterranean plants and the processes of growth from seed. Special attention was given to practical workshops, where children planted basil and made seed bombs to promote biodiversity.
The program included:
Guided tour of the garden and Purissima Center: Students explored the aromatic scents of Mediterranean plants and learned about different seedlings.
Planting basil: Each student planted their own basil, which they will carefully nurture at home.
Making seed bombs: Together, we contributed to greater biodiversity with seeds of medicinal plants.
Finding animals in the garden: Children, acting as green researchers, identified beneficial and harmful animals.
Strawberry tasting: The day ended with delicious strawberries grown at Purissima.
We thank all the young participants for their curiosity and enthusiasm. We are glad to have been part of your educational journey and to contribute together to a greener future!
