The OSF Foundation in Pordenone ( member Organization of Scuola Centrale Formaizone) recently hosted two events as part of the MEDS GARDEN+ project, combining ancient flavors and the wonder of the plant life cycle.
On May 7, 2025, with a focus on environmental education, the OSF Foundation hosted the educational workshop “Before I was a plant, I was a seed.” About 35 children from the Beato Odorico School in Pordenone, accompanied by their teachers, participated in this engaging activity. In collaboration with an expert in green management, the children explored the plants in the “Friul” Garden, focusing on the growth cycle of plants from seed. This workshop offered the young students a fun, hands-on learning experience, combining botanical education and environmental awareness.
- On 8 May 2025, with the workshop “Aromatic plants and ancient fruits in pastry making: characteristics and preparations”, the OSF Foundation took participants on a sensory journey that immersed them in nature. The day began with a welcome for participants and a guided tour of the Foundation's ‘Friul’ garden, where experts illustrated the characteristics of the aromatic plants used in pastry making. The workshop then continued in the pastry laboratory, where participants made traditional cakes and biscuits using fresh herbs picked from the garden. This workshop allowed participants to create recipes specially designed and tested by the pastry chef for the Meds garden+ project, using aromatic herbs in an unusual way. Special thanks went to expert trainers Rocco Fioraio and Walter Fantuz, and to the talented students of the OSF Foundation's pastry course who assisted Maestro Fioraio. The event ended with a tasting of the products made.
Both events, organized as part of the MEDS GARDEN+ project involving its partners, demonstrate the OSF Foundation's commitment to promoting knowledge of the local area, enhancing its resources, and creating opportunities for learning and sharing for different audiences.
