On February 20th, 2025, a session of the EPILS (European Paediatric Immediate Life Support) course took place at the Healthcare Training Centre of the Ospedale dell’Angelo in Mestre - Venice. The course was attended by both employees of ULSS 3 Serenissima and members of other AidMIRE project partner organizations.
The EPILS course provides healthcare professionals with the essential competencies to recognize and manage infants and children experiencing cardiorespiratory arrest, ensuring effective intervention until the arrival of an advanced life support team. The curriculum emphasizes early resuscitation measures and enhances the ability of participants to function within a multidisciplinary resuscitation team.
The EPILS course is an ERC (European Resuscitation Council) certified program, adapted to the Italian context by the IRC (Italian Resuscitation Council) and updated according to the latest international resuscitation guidelines (ERC 2015). The teaching methodology is highly interactive, featuring workshops and short simulation scenarios on manikins in small groups, led by IRC-ERC certified advanced paediatric instructors.
As part of the AidMIRE project, the initiative seeks to harmonize clinical skills and emergency response protocols among partner institutions, facilitating a standardized and coordinated approach to mass casualty incidents along the Italy-Slovenia border.
