On 24 September 2026, the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana successfully hosted the professional workshop “Protection, Installation and Use of Wood”, which brought together 114 participants from the fields of design, construction, supervision, research and wood utilisation.
Expert speakers presented the latest knowledge on wood quality, its response to climate change, the durability of timber structures, fire safety, hybrid timber construction and quality assurance of wood products. Participants also gained insight into numerous examples of good practice in the design and construction of modern timber buildings.
An important part of the programme was dedicated to presenting the results of the WoodInnovate project. Speakers shared findings on the impact of climate change on the quality of wood from Slovenian forests, wood degradation processes in buildings, and solutions for ensuring safer, more durable use of wood. These results contribute to a better understanding of the factors affecting the service life of wood and timber structures.
We were particularly pleased with the positive feedback from participants, who expressed their satisfaction with both the content and organisation of the workshop and gained valuable new knowledge applicable to the daily planning, construction and use of wood.
