#GO2025FENICE
Project partners aim to overcome language and cultural barriers, promoting sustainable development and social inclusion, with a focus on minorities. The main goal is to engage the younger generation from Venice, Gorica, and Slovenia in the production of high-quality digital music content, supported by La Fenice Theater and Slovenian music schools. Innovation is evident through a bilingual educational kit, cross-border music production, popular competitions, and a creative and participatory approach. The project will involve schools, chefs, and communities, promoting cross-border cooperation and sociocultural innovation.
The project’s goal was to bring the younger generations of Venice, Gorizia, and Slovenia closer together, using music as a bridge between different cultures and languages. The goal was simple yet ambitious: to educate children in musical creativity and encourage connections between neighboring countries.
Various events took place:
- Music Labs and Educational Tools
Students from Italian and Slovenian primary schools, including linguistic minorities, took part in music labs dedicated to the Ode to Joy, learning to perform it in both Italian and Slovenian. The Fondazione Teatro La Fenice of Venice, together with the Slovenian Association of Coastal Music Schools (ZPGŠ), created a bilingual educational kit to teach children the Ode to Joy in both languages. The Emil Komel School of Gorizia also developed the Cross-Border Musical Alphabet, designed for Italian and Slovenian kindergarten schools.
- Music Competition “New Generations #GO2025”
The music labs led to the creation of the competition “New Generations #GO2025,” in which 625 students from Italy and Slovenia participated, producing 30 video clips with their own original interpretations of the Ode to Joy. The videos were evaluated through both public voting and a technical jury. The two winning schools—one Italian and one Slovenian—together with a group representing linguistic minorities, performed at the Teatro Verdi in May 2025, accompanied by the prestigious Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice.
- The Cross-Border Concert
The highlight of the project was the #GO2025FENICE concert: the Orchestra of Teatro La Fenice, with 60 musicians, accompanied 100 Italian and Slovenian children’s choir members in performing the Ode to Joy, a symbol of European unity and dialogue. Around 500 students and accompanying guests attended the event, which also received broad media coverage and was streamed online.
At the end of the concert, 1,000 heart-shaped sweets were distributed, prepared by pastry shops from Venice and Nova Gorica, celebrating cross-border collaboration also through culinary tradition.
