The Festival "Prečkanja-Sconfinamenti" is a cross-border collaboration between Glasbena matica based in FVG (Italy) and Imago Sloveniae Foundation (Slovenia). The project will run for 24 months during which there will be 3 international masterclass sessions led by world-renowned pianist Alexander Gadjiev and 30 concerts by Italian and Slovenian ensemble. Thanks to the Festival's innovative programming model, with events organized in Gorica and Ljubljana and surrounding localities , the project will promote the interconnection of the regions as a unified cultural tourism destination marked by sustainability. The events are free, accessible to all and take place in physically accessible locations.
The project’s goal was to promote cooperation between the two nations through cutting-edge artistic content and to increase the visibility of the two cities, Gorizia and Nova Gorica, as unique cultural and tourist destinations, thereby strengthening the local economy, while also taking into account the international visibility of the project partners and GO!2025.
The festival took place in various locations in both countries, helping to strengthen the spirit of cross-border cooperation.
It was held between July and August 2024, and subsequently between June and July 2025, in various locations between the Gorizia area and Ljubljana, focusing on intercultural dialogue and cross-border solidarity. There were nearly 30 concerts, featuring performances by various high-caliber musicians from 18 countries (Austria, Chile, China, South Korea, Georgia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, the United States of America, Switzerland, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Israel). In addition, the program included two artist residencies (Borderless Quartet and Beyond Quintet) and two masterclasses led by renowned educators. In the festival’s second year, a meet-and-greet with the artists and a film screening were also added.
The project reached out to audiences on both sides of the border with a view to fostering unity and sharing, helping to strengthen cohesion and promote the region’s cultural diversity.
