ZRCALA
"Border Mirrors | Zrcala meje" is a festival that explores the identity of the cities of Nova Gorica and Gorica through jazz music, poetry and other art forms. The project highlights the concept of borders, uniting local singer-songwriters, poets and musicians in unusual performances at historic sites and unique landscapes. The festival, divided into outdoor events in the spring and locations such as wineries and historic homes in the fall, aims to engage audiences in a celebration of cross-border culture, including the region's food and wine industry.
The objectives of the Zrcala Meje | Specchi di Confine festival were:
- To develop a shared cultural initiative between Gorizia and Nova Gorica and to strengthen the collaboration between Italian and Slovenian cultural operators through the creation of an artistic program spanning both sides of the border;
- To promote several significant sites in the region, such as Villa de Nordis, the former Krainer Hardware Store and Kromberk Castle, by transforming them into venues for cultural activities open to the public. In order to do so, the festival featured a multidisciplinary program that brought together music, literature and initiatives tied to the local area, involving international artists, local cultural organisations and professionals from the food and wine sector. Through this approach, the project sought to encourage public participation from both countries and to contribute to the cultural and tourist promotion of the cross-border area.
The festival concluded on October 27 with a tasting of wines and homemade products at the Kmetija Ščurek.
