ITINERANT
Policy objective: PO4 - A more social and inclusive Europe implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights
Specific objective: SO 6 - enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation
Typology: Standard project
The two parks are the coordinators of the Julian Alps biosphere reserve for their respective territories. The respective protected areas of the Julian Prealps Nature Park and the Triglavski Narodni Park are subjected to diametrically opposed anthropogenic pressure. While we are witnessing, on the Slovenian side, an anthropic pressure, due solely and exclusively to a massive influx of tourists, - in Italy the protected area of the Park, but also of the reserve, has been suffering for years from the phenomenon of depopulation and therefore from the abandonment of the territory with all the consequences that follow in terms of management and maintenance of ecosystem services. The aim of the project is to have at its conclusion a unique sustainable tourism strategy for the area of the MAB UNESCO CROSSBORDER biosphere reserve of the Julian Alps and solid cultural and infrastructural foundations, which will allow the conservation and at the same time the development of this cross-border area by managing too much anthropic pressure on the one hand and stemming the depopulation of the area on the other.
The project is co-financed by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia with a contribution of € 560,054.11.
- Promote sustainable economic development, inclusion and social innovation in the MAB Julian Alps biosphere area, developing a sustainable and integrated tourism strategy.
- The project aims to manage anthropic pressure and, equally, to counteract depopulation by involving local communities in the process of planning and providing tourist services, improving the well-being of residents, environmental conservation and raising the quality of the tourist experience.
The mail expected results of the project is to have at its conclusion a unique sustainable tourism strategy for the area of the MAB UNESCO CROSSBORDER biosphere reserve of the Julian Alps and solid cultural and infrastructural foundations, which will allow the conservation and at the same time the development of this cross-border area.
