Experimental and demonstration trials in Slovenia: the grape harvest

As part of the IRRIGAVIT project, researchers from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, in cooperation with the University of Udine, tested different irrigation protocols in three experimental and demonstration terraced vineyards with pinela, chardonnay and merlot varieties in two Slovenian areas: in Šmarje and Planina in Vipavska dolina and in Neblo in Goriška Brda. The water status of the plants is monitored from April 2024 until the end of the project, September 2025. In the last week of August, the pinella variety was harvested in the flysch terraces in Šmarje. In Planina, we harvested the zelen variety instead. In Goriška Brda, we conducted trials on the merlot variety.
