The activity “Education and awareness-raising on the protection of water resources and adaptation to climate change” will be presented to the press and other stakeholders through a course for journalists organised within the framework of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia WABIN project.
The event will take place on Thursday, 3 September 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m., at the University of Ljubljana – Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Aškerčeva cesta 12, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Room K-3.
Speakers:
Katarina Bajzeli, correspondent for WigwamNews and representative of the Wigwam Local Communities in Slovenia, who will welcome participants and open the event;
Goran Vižintin, Professor of Applied Geophysics at the University of Ljubljana – Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, who will speak on “The water cycle: why does water never run out? The case study of the cross-border water balance of the Isonzo/Soča River”;
Efrem Tassinato, journalist and President of Wigwam Clubs Italia, who will present the finalist entries submitted by young Slovenians to the Wigwam Italian Press Award, promoted within the framework of Interreg WABIN and dedicated to the theme of water;
Gian Paolo Girelli, journalist and member of ARGA – the Regional Association of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Journalists of Friuli Venezia Giulia – and Secretary-General of UNARGA, who will speak on “Citizens’ awareness of the value of water resources: the role of specialised journalism”.
The event will be held in Italian and Slovenian.
