Škocjan Caves Park invites you to a field weekend, taking place from 16 to 18 May 2025 (bat group until 19 May) in the Beka Landscape Park, located within the Škocjan Caves Biosphere Reserve. The activity is organised as part of the E-NAT2CARE project, co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme.

The weekend is intended for students, researchers, and all nature enthusiasts with an interest in fieldwork. It will have a research-oriented focus, so basic fieldwork experience is recommended.

Research Groups

Participants will be able to join one of several research groups, each guided by experienced mentors:

  • amphibians
  • reptiles
  • birds
  • aquatic invertebrates
  • botany

And a special bat group, which will conduct netting activities on Sunday evening, 18 May. Participants in this group will stay an extra night at the hostel (until Monday, 19 May). The bat group is limited to 10 participants, with priority given to the first registered participants from any of the other groups.

Participation is free of charge, as the event is funded by the E-NAT2CARE project.
