Representatives of all four partners of the Kras4us project (UP Famnit - Department of Biodiversity, LAS Kras, DOPPS - BirdLife Slovenia and Park Škocjanske jame) met on 26th August at the 4th technical meeting in Campus Livade in Izola. At the meeting we reviewed the activities carried out so far and discussed the imminent launch of two pilot actions - the restoring of permanent grasslands through a combination of removal of overgrowth and the planting of different grass mixtures in selected areas in the transboundary area of the Karst. The two pilot actions will serve as a basis for the preparation of a study on different approaches to establishing permanent grasslands in the Natura 2000 Kras area.
At the end of September, we plan to visit farms to see examples of good agricultural practices, both from a biodiversity conservation and an economic point of view. The farm visits will serve as a basis for the preparation of a handbook with tips on how to improve the biodiversity status of farmland.
