On Wednesday, 7 October 2026, the final Study Visit of the cross-border AI-GRAPE project took place in Cormons, organised in cooperation with the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio. The event brought together project partners, students and local winegrowers, providing an opportunity for training and the exchange of experience on the use of digital technologies in modern viticulture.
The first part of the visit took place in an experimental vineyard, where participants explored the AI-GRAPE monitoring network, the installed equipment and sensors, and methods for collecting vineyard data. Particular attention was given to the use of data for monitoring major grapevine pests and supporting decision-making. Students and winegrowers were able to see the technologies directly in the field and discuss their practical use in vineyard management with the project partners.
The programme continued at the Municipal Civic Hall in Cormons with the meeting and discussion “Digitalisation and Innovation for Local Viticulture”. Participants exchanged experiences on practical plant-protection needs, the potential of digital tools and the AI-GRAPE Decision Support System (DSS), barriers to the adoption of new technologies, and future perspectives for digital viticulture.
The Study Visit concluded with participant feedback and an informal networking session bringing together participants, winegrowers, students and project partners.
The event once again highlighted the importance of connecting knowledge, technology and field experience to support more efficient and sustainable viticulture across the Italy-Slovenia cross-border area.
The AI-GRAPE project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021–2027.
