The AQUAFARM 2025 edition of the fair was a success, confirming Pordenone Fiere as a reference point for aquaculture, innovation and sustainable management of marine resources at national and European level. Over 110 exhibitors from Italy and abroad were present on 7,000 m² of exhibition space, with 30 top international buyers from Brazil, North Africa, the Balkans and Greece, the Baltic region. The fair's conference program offered 20 sessions with over 150 expert speakers, focusing on sustainability, energy self-sufficiency and decarbonization in aquaculture. Our Circular Rainbow project was an important part of the Aquafarm 2025 event, contributing with innovative and sustainable solutions for trout farming based on recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and the circular economy, on digitalization and energy efficiency, and on biogas production from aquaculture wastewater. The presentation on biogas production from aquaculture waste water, presented by Prof. Alessandro Chiumenti on Wednesday 12 February 2025, in the MASAF room, brought together 26 international technicians, experts and researchers, while the presentation dedicated to circularity in aquaculture and the importance of the transition to recirculating trout farming models (RAS) and their digitalization, presented by Prof. Gloriana Cardinaletti on Thursday 13 February 2025, gathered around 40 people. Thanks to the demonstration presentations and the large exhibition stand organized by the University of Udine (UP), together with the Interreg Brigantine and Marinet projects, we were very effective at the fair. Our presentation stand attracted 119 participants interested in the project topics and aquaculture.
The partners also met with the coordinators of the BeBlue – Beyond Bluegrass project, led by the Ca’ Foscarii University of Venice, who were present at the fair. Thus, they further strengthened the research and development networks in the field of sustainable aquaculture. We were numerous and well represented, and our sessions sparked valuable discussions and new collaborations, which strengthened our activities, which are aimed at making the sector as adaptable and innovative as possible.
