Institute for Kinesiological Research from Scientific Research Center Koper has completed The BED REST study. The research was carried out as part of the X-BRAIN.net project, funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia program, in collaboration with partners General Hospital Izola, Universita degli Studi di Trieste - Dipartimento di Scienze Mediche, Chirurgiche e della Salute, and Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano Isontina. The study centered on a group of elderly male participants who underwent a 10-day bed rest period at Izola General Hospital, followed by a 21-day supervised rehabilitation program. The study concluded with a comprehensive health evaluation to assess the potential reversal of health decline.
During the weekend of October 21st to 22nd, all participants underwent final testing, successfully concluding their involvement in the study. The insights gained from this research will be utilized to enhance and establish appropriate rehabilitation protocols specifically designed for individuals affected by stroke.
