On Thursday, 23 May 2025, the National Institute of Biology (NIB), Slovenian partner of the BEE2GETHER project, took part in the Biodiversity Festival held in the heart of Ljubljana, in Pogačarjev trg, on the occasion of the International Day for Biodiversity. This year’s edition was held under the theme “Be Part of the Plan”, encouraging citizens and institutions to take concrete action to protect ecosystems. At the NIB stand, dedicated to the BEE2GETHER project, a nesting box for solitary wild bees was exhibited to present the wild bee monitoring system. This tool is an integral part of the data collection activities carried out within the project, which aims to strengthen the cross-border system for biodiversity monitoring. Visitors – mostly passers-by, tourists and children – had the opportunity to learn more about the world of wild pollinators, discovering the various species present in Slovenia, their crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, and the threats they face, such as pesticide use and habitat loss. Despite the bad weather, the stand attracted a large number of visitors. Many expressed great interest in wild bees, sharing personal experiences, questions, and nature-related stories.
