Trieste, October 15th, 2024 – The first of three events dedicated to the presentation of Call 03/2024 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme was held in Trieste. The new call, which makes available over 10 million euros, aims to fund cross-border projects focused on preventing and managing risks related to climate and environmental changes. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for potential Italian and Slovenian beneficiaries to learn in detail about the Programme opportunities and the procedures for submitting applications.
Opening remarks were given by Laura Comelli, Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme, and Danica Šantelj Arrighetti, representative of the Republic of Slovenia.
The subsequent presentations offered a comprehensive overview of the call features, focusing on a cross-border approach to address challenges posed by extreme climate events. Among the key objectives are the adoption of bilingual emergency systems, the development of shared tools and information, and the implementation of a coordinated, multi-level governance framework between the two countries.
During the presentation event, Chiara Vecchiato - staff of the Managing Authority - outlined the detailed requirements for submitting applications, highlighting the intervention logic, project evaluation criteria, and the necessary application package. The electronic monitoring system “Jems”, which simplify the submission and management of applications online, was also introduced by Aljoša Sosol, Coordinator of the Joint Secretariat. A session was later held on the Programme Manual for eligibility of expenditures, curated by Italian and Slovenian first level control staff: Roberto Piccini, Andrea Podrecca, Janja Mlakar e Dušan Kotnik.
This event will be followed by two more meetings: on October 21st in Koper, Slovenia, and on October 28th in Venice, Italy. These events will be dedicated respectively to potential Slovenian and Italian beneficiaries, providing further insights into how to access the funds allocated by the call.
