CALL FOR PILOT ACTIONS FOR THE CIRCULAR.BUILDINGS PROJECT NOW OPERN

The Circular.Buildings project officially launches a Call for Expressions of Interest targeting construction professionals and companies interested in participating in the cross-border pilot actions planned under the project.

The initiative is open to Italian and Slovenian companies and professionals wishing to propose concrete project ideas and test innovative solutions aligned with the principles of circular construction and the progressive digitalization of the sector's processes.

Customized assistance to translate ideas into concrete actions

Pilot actions represent a concrete opportunity for personalized support. Selected participants will have the chance to be assisted by qualified professionals and experts—chosen from internal staff and project partners' consultants—with the aim of transforming project ideas into operational actions

In particular, the sixteen selected companies and/or professionals (8 Italian and 8 Slovenian) will benefit from targeted individual support focused on testing the innovations and best practices collected within the Circular.Buildings platform and other project initiatives (workshops, research, etc.). They will have the outstanding opportunity to access personalized expert support to verify the feasibility of the proposed innovations within their own operational context. This represents a strategic step toward ensuring the effective market transferability of circular building best practices and initiating virtuous cycles of sustainability and innovation.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

Only 16 positions are available: 8 for Italian companies/professionals and 8 for Slovenian companies/professionals. Interested parties must therefore submit an Expression of Interest by following the instructions provided below.

A. Who can apply

Applications are open to companies and professionals who fulfill both of the following criteria:

  • Operate within the construction sector, covering all industry segments: including construction and demolition, engineering and architectural practices, flooring and glazing contractors, manufacturers of construction products, and building services installers or maintenance technicians, etc

  • Have their registered office or operational headquarters located within the eligible Program area, namely: The Province of Venice, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and the eligible areas in Slovenia (namely: Primorsko-notranjska, Osrednjeslovenska, Gorenjska, Obalno-kraška, and Goriška)

B.  Application Procedures and Deadlines

Companies and professionals wishing to apply for the pilot actions must complete the application form via the following links no later than 18 January 2026:

  • Application form for Italian companies and professionals: https://forms.gle/5z2xCitXorzRsaXS6

  • Application form for Slovenian companies and professionals: https://forms.gle/CeUCq8yLh7WJmJnh

For any technical assistance or issues regarding the application form, please contact our staff at: circular.buildings@ecipa.eu

C. Two-stage selection procedure

The selection process consists of two steps: 1) an analysis of the project proposals submitted in response to this call for applications; 2) individual interviews with the top-ranked Italian and Slovenian companies selected in Phase 1. A detailed description of the call for applications is provided below:

Step 1: Evaluation and shortlisting of project proposals

Within the application form, interested companies and professionals will be asked to identify and describe the managerial and/or technical solutions they intend to test, in line with their operational needs and the project’s objectives. Proposals will be evaluated based on expected results, their contribution to improving work processes, the potential positive impact on sustainability and cross-border circular construction, and the possible establishment of collaborations, including those of a cross-border nature. At the end of this first step, two separate rankings—one for Italian applicants and one for Slovenian applicants—will be drawn up based on the defined evaluation criteria.

Companies or professionals wishing to apply are invited to carefully review the OBJECTIVE EVALUATION CRITERIA provided at the end of the article.

Step 2: Interview

The top-ranked companies/professionals from the initial list will be contacted for an individual online interview, after which the final ranking will be drawn up

DESCRIPTION OF THE PILOT ACTIONS

Once selected, the identified companies and professionals will be able to test their proposed solutions under the direct guidance of an expert, aiming to assess their practical feasibility and effectiveness in real-world operations.

PLEASE NOTE: The pilot actions will be launched by early February and must be completed no later than the first week of April 2026

A strategic opportunity for the cross-border construction sector

The pilot actions represent a key milestone for the Circular.Buildings project, offering companies and professionals a tangible opportunity to engage with innovative tools, test them in a guided environment, and contribute to developing solutions that are truly beneficial for the cross-border construction sector. Take advantage of this opportunity—apply by January 18th, 2026!
