After the completion of four technical deliverables (climate change assessment, wildfire vulnerability analysis, models of predictive algorithms and policy recommendations), the team of Karst Firewall is pleased to invite you to its first intersectional public meeting.
To present the analysis’ first results, the Karst Firewall 5.0 team organises a public event on the 27th May 2025 at 17:00 in the municipality of Duino-Aurisina, at the locality of Sistiana, in the InfoPoint center Sistiana, PromoTurismoFVG, loc. Sistiana, 56/B (Duino-Aurisina).
The project’s scientific and technical partners will present their research and conclusions to make the Karst region safer against a growing risk of wildfire. The event will gather the project’s stakeholders, public authorities, associated partners, firefighters, civil protection, forest rangers, and is open for the general public with an interest in the subject. It will be an opportunity to discuss a major issue of environment and public safety in a sensitive border region. Preceding this public event, a participatory workshop dedicated to Slovenian and Italian forest rangers will be held, to gather their practical inputs and include them in the analysis.
The agenda will include
● Welcoming words by the mayor of Duino Aurisina
● Opening remarks by the dean of IUAV
● Presentation of the climate change assessment and wildfire vulnerability analysis in the Karst border region, led by the scientific partners ZRC SAZU and IUAV
●Presentation of the predictive algorithm models and policy recommendations by the data partner Infordata Sistemi Srl
● Open debate and discussion, followed by the refreshment
The exchanges will be supported in both Italian and Slovene, with a guaranteed interpretation. The event will be held in presence only, and is open to all interested citizens. The participants are kindly asked to confirm their presence with a mail to karstfirewall@iuav.it.
