Between 23 and 27 May 2025, the hiking shelter Pian dei Ciclamini hosted the Youth without Borders for Nature and Climate Camp, organised by Rete Italiana European Green Belt APS together with EUROPARC Federation, Julian Prealps Nature Park and Triglav National Park. The Camp brought together 17 girls and boys from all over Europe, many of them with a background in biology and natural sciences.
During the evening of Monday, 26 May, Alberto Madrassi from the Julian Prealps Nature Park presented the E-NAT2CARE project to the camp participants, outlining its objectives and the results achieved so far. Alberto brought with him a trap for Rosalia alpina and Osmoderma eremita and a nest box for Ural tawny owl. The former was used to explain the monitoring methods and present the results obtained during the summer 2024 campaign. The nest box, on the other hand, was used to introduce the Ural owl, also explaining how it was built and installed. The presentation on the Ural owl was complemented with the screening of the documentary on the bird of prey made within the framework of the Dinalpconnect Interreg Adrion transnational European cooperation project.
At the end of the presentation, some participants asked about the construction of the nest boxes. In fact, the model presented during the talk was manufactured, together with another specimen, by the park authority in anticipation of the science day with ISIS Magrini Marchetti. This event, initially scheduled for 21 May, was postponed due to bad weather to 28 May and will be the subject of another article.
