On May 31, 2025, the 4th Regalnica (European tree frog inventory) took place, as part of the ENGREEN 2 project. The inventory was conducted with the help of citizen science, and as many as 72 enumerators took part in it. At the initiative of the Škocjan Caves Park, we used an application in the field for the first time this year that enables digital data capture. This allowed us to keep up-to-date with the data obtained and process it more easily. First of all, we presented the ENGREEN 2 project, the inventory procedure, the results of previous years and the characteristics of the European tree frog in the Promotion and Congress Centre in the Škocjan caves Park. The participants were given a few more instructions and then went to the field.

23 groups searched the area of southwestern Slovenia in the evening and night hours. Among the 141 locations, we confirmed the European tree frog in 25 places. We also saw other amphibians in the field, such as true frogs, toads and newts.

The event was organized by the Škocjan Caves Park, the Department of Biodiversity (UP FAMNIT) and the National Institute of Biology (Department of Organism and Ecosystem Research), with the support of the ENGREEN 2 project - Capitalization of the strengthening of green infrastructure in the cross-border cultural landscape IT-SI, co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme.
