In June, we successfully organised two more èStoriaBus excursions.
The èStoriaBus tour "ALLA SCOPERTA DELL'ISONZO: LA FOCE / ODKRIVANJE SOČE: IZLIV" was the final of four stages in the series exploring the river, led by Andrea Bellavite, and included a guided tour of the Cona Nature Reserve. Of the 42 participants, those who wished to do so were able to walk along a route of around 7–8 kilometres to the river's source, whilst the others were able to enjoy the views of the natural sites by walking just a few hundred metres. In the afternoon, everyone visited the interesting and little-known archaeological site of San Canzian d'Isonzo.
The èStoriaBus tour "GRANDE GUERRA E RELIGIONE / VELIKA VOJNA IN VERA", led by Guido Alliney, included, during the morning, a visit to Gorjansko and its Austrian military cemetery from the Great War, situated in Slovenian territory, as well as a guided tour of the Cerje Peace Monument, located on the battlefield of the 1917 offensives. Here, the 27 participants were able to enjoy the sweeping view over the Gorizia/Nova Gorica plain. In the afternoon, the group visited the so-called Hungarian Chapel at Visintini and the nearby military cemetery enclosure, which was used first by the Austrians and later by the Italians. Finally, the group travelled a short distance to the village of Berne to visit the evocative abandoned cemetery. Unfortunately, many of those who had signed up for the tour decided to pull out at the last minute due to the high temperatures forecast for the day.
