On Friday, March 21st, we successfully transferred five young noble pen shells from the NIB lab to the Piran Aquarium (UP). πβ¨
π Why the transfer?
The young pen shells were in an open system at NIB, where they get their food directly from the sea π. At the aquarium, they'll be in a closed system, allowing us to better control water quality and prevent infections. But it also means we'll need to work extra hard to provide them with enough food! π½οΈ
π We made sure the transfer was quick to avoid temperature shock, and at the aquarium, weβve kept the water at a cool 12Β°C, just like in the sea! βοΈ
The young pen shells are now adjusting to their new home, and weβre keeping our fingers crossed that they thrive and grow! π€π±
