The H2READY project enters a new operational phase dedicated to the selection of pilot municipalities that will be involved in developing local strategies based on green hydrogen.
The activity, jointly coordinated by GOLEA – Goriška Lokalna Energetska Agencija and APE FVG – Agenzia per l’Energia del Friuli Venezia Giulia, represents a key step within Activity 1.1 of the project, aimed at identifying the most suitable territorial contexts to test concrete solutions for the energy transition.
The selection process builds on the expressions of interest collected in recent weeks, which confirmed a strong engagement of Italian and Slovenian municipalities eager to take part in the initiative.
Selection will be based on common criteria agreed upon by the Italian and Slovenian partners, ensuring a balanced representation of the various territorial contexts within the cooperation area.
Municipalities with complementary profiles — urban, industrial, tourist and rural — will be selected to create a representative sample reflecting the diversity of cross-border territories.
The goal is to identify municipalities with the highest potential for implementation and long-term impact in adopting hydrogen-based technologies, in areas such as: public transport and sustainable mobility; energy supply for public buildings and infrastructures; local production of renewable energy.
Through this activity, H2READY aims to lay the groundwork for a shared cross-border model of local energy planning, capable of integrating green hydrogen solutions into municipal development strategies.
The joint work between Italy and Slovenia will make it possible to identify barriers, opportunities and replicable good practices, strengthening cross-border cooperation and the role of municipalities as key actors in the green transition.
