Within the GRENNAT project, the partner Consorzio di Bonifica Veneto Orientale has successfully completed the development of the IRRIBOOK web application, designed for more efficient irrigation planning and sustainable management of water resources in agricultural areas.
The application enables users to register, input and map irrigated areas, define cultivated crops, specify the type of irrigation system, and plan irrigation periods. Based on the collected data, irrigation system managers can more accurately assess seasonal water requirements, more efficiently plan water distribution, and contribute to a more rational use of water resources.
The final version of the application also includes additional functionalities developed based on user testing and feedback. These include the option to submit an irrigation plan for the upcoming season and to generate an annual summary of performed irrigation activities, which facilitates the management of required agricultural documentation.
With the completion of the development phase, the IRRIBOOK application is ready for broader use among agricultural holdings. Its implementation will enable more efficient irrigation management, better water use planning, and monitoring of the impacts of water abstraction on aquatic ecosystems, particularly in the Natura 2000 area Laguna di Caorle – mouth of the Tagliamento River. The developed solution thus makes an important contribution to sustainable water resource management and supports the objectives of the GRENNAT project in the field of climate change adaptation and environmental protection.
