The Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme took part in the conference “From Results to Uptake: Capitalizing Project Results for Policy Impact and Future Programming”, organised within the framework of the IPA ADRION Capitalization Strategy. The event focused on the valorisation of project results and their contribution to future territorial policies and European cooperation. Representatives of the European Commission, Interreg programmes, EUSAIR institutions, regional authorities and project beneficiaries gathered to discuss how the results of funded initiatives can be transferred, reused and integrated into future strategies and the next programming period 2028–2034.
Throughout the conference, a common message emerged: capitalization is not merely about disseminating project achievements, but about transforming them into tools, methodologies, governance models and practical solutions capable of generating a lasting impact on territories and public policies.
The Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme participated in the afternoon thematic cluster sessions, which fostered exchange among projects addressing similar challenges and helped identify opportunities for transferring developed solutions. Nastja Foraus and Francesca Sibilla accompanied the Programme’s project representatives, supporting participants in networking activities, knowledge exchange and the development of potential synergies with other programmes and initiatives across the Adriatic-Ionian area.
The following Italy–Slovenia projects took part in the thematic clusters:
AI GRAPE, represented by Vanessa Sanson (Area Science Park), in Cluster 1, dedicated to SMEs’ green transition and digital innovation;
BLUECRAB, represented by Alberto Pallavicini (University of Trieste), in Cluster 2 on blue economy innovation;
CONCORDIA, represented by Stefano Parolai (University of Trieste), in Cluster 3, focused on disaster risk prevention and mitigation;
Karst Firewall 5.0, represented by Massimiliano Granceri Bradaschia and Davide Longato (IUAV University of Venice), in Cluster 4, dedicated to climate change adaptation and territorial resilience;
PALLIPES, represented by Chiara Manfrin (University of Trieste), in Cluster 6, focused on marine biodiversity and coastal habitats.
The cluster sessions had a strongly operational character. Participants from various Interreg programmes across the Adriatic-Ionian area worked together to identify project solutions that could be transferred to other territories, map potential end users and define joint actions capable of amplifying the impact of project achievements. Discussions highlighted the importance of strengthening dialogue between projects, programmes and policymakers, promoting the reuse of existing tools and knowledge, and building synergies that can contribute to shaping future European policies.
The participation of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia projects provided an important opportunity to showcase the expertise and solutions developed across the Adriatic-Ionian cross-border area, contributing to the European debate on capitalisation and on the role of territorial cooperation in generating concrete and lasting change.
