As part of the TARTINI BIS project, a new website has been launched dedicated to the life and work of Miroslav Vilhar – composer, poet, writer, and politician who played a key role in the Slovenian cultural renaissance of the 19th century.
The aim of the capitalization project TARTINI BIS was not only to further develop the results of the previous tARTini project, but also to transfer methodologies and best practices to new partners and, together with them, create additional content. One of these is precisely the digital presentation of Vilhar’s rich legacy, structured following the model of the archive on the Discover Tartini portal. In this way, his literary and musical heritage has for the first time been systematically collected and made accessible to the public in a contemporary, digital form – in three languages: Slovenian, Italian, and English.
The website offers:
Biography – from the presentation of his family and his childhood and youth to his mature years,
Historical and cultural context in which he created,
Political path – his values, political activity, and role as a promoter of national consciousness,
Literary path – poetic works, drama, and journalism,
Musical path – his extensive musical output,
Selection of his musical works,
Overview of his influence after death and contribution to timelessness,
Rich digitized visual materials.
The new website, based on the texts by Tine Kaluža, historian and curator at the Notranjska Museum of Postojna, and Associate Professor Dr. Aleš Nagode from the Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, is therefore not only a digital archive but also a starting point for the development of tourism products that can connect literary and musical heritage with the natural and historical beauty of the region. The site is conceived as a bridge between culture, tourism, and modern digital tools, bringing Miroslav Vilhar closer to today’s public.
