On Saturday, 4 October 2025, the scenic Val Rosandra / Glinščica Valley hosted the annual Open Event of the Alpe Adria Trail, organised within the framework of the strategic project Interreg V-A Italy–Slovenia “KRAS–CARSO II.”
The initiative, jointly promoted by Italian and Slovenian partners, brought together over 200 participants from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Slovenia, and Carinthia. The route covered a cross-border section of Stage 36 of the Alpe Adria Trail, starting in Krvavi Potok (Slovenia) and finishing at Rifugio Premuda (Bagnoli della Rosandra / Boljunec, Italy), with a total distance of approximately 10 km.
The day began with a welcome coffee and institutional greetings organised by ORA Krasa & Brkinov, while lunch at the finish point was prepared by PromoTurismoFVG.
Along the way, a culinary stop in Botazzo / Botač was organised by GAL Carso-LAS Kras and ORA Kras & Brkinov, highlighting local food specialties.
The programme included official speeches in Italian, Slovenian, and German, delivered by authorities and project representatives, reflecting the multilingual and cross-border nature of the initiative. The hiking experience was enriched by guides and escorts, who provided participants with insights into the natural and cultural features of the area.
The event represented an important opportunity to promote the landscape and cultural heritage of the Karst, while fostering a sustainable and integrated tourism model along the Alpe Adria Trail corridor. At the same time, it contributed to enhancing the visibility of the “KRAS–CARSO II” project and encouraged the use of hiking trails and activities of the Karst Geopark.
