On Thursday, May 21, the opening of a photography exhibition by local artist Nikol Frandolič took place in the renovated premises of the Danica Cultural Association in San Michele del Carso as part of the BEroots project.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Savogna d'Isonzo and SDGZ-URES Slovenian regional economic association in collaboration with SKRD Danica, attracted numerous visitors who were able to admire the young artist’s works, discover the poetry of local poet Fran Rojc, and enjoy a rich cultural program.
Alida Passon, a council member of the Municipality of Savogna d'Isonzo, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives for the local community. She noted that such events provide an opportunity to discover young talent from the local area and contribute to preserving and strengthening the cultural identity of the region. She also noted that one of the goals of the BEroots project is to discover lesser-known artists, among whom is Franjo Rojec. It was precisely the poetry of the poet Franjo Rojec from Savogna that accompanied the exhibition and added a special emotional and artistic dimension to the evening.
The audience was then addressed by Ingrid Scozzai, who, on behalf of SDGZ-URES, presented the BEroots project – Between Rivers and Lagoons: Artistic Routes. She outlined the activities already carried out as part of the project and presented the upcoming planned events.
The exhibition, interwoven with selected verses by the poet Franjo Rojec, took visitors through seven thematic sections in which the young photographer captured motifs of nature and life in the local environment. Among the images, the flowers along the Vipava River, the lively lizards on the rocks, forest animals, and the flight of birds stood out in particular. Each section revealed a subtle yet meaningful moment of everyday life in nature. The young artist’s photographs created a special atmosphere and delighted numerous visitors.
The cultural evening was further enriched by performances by the Kapljice Girls’ Choir, led by conductor Tina Balta, and the Glasbena matica Vocal Group, led by conductor Martina Feri. With their performances, the two groups further enriched the evening and created an even more vivid atmosphere.
